Rowing With Me VS Drilling Holes (shooting down dreams)

Support sometimes comes from unfamiliar faces. Through this Mrs. Texas process I have found support from both familiar and unfamiliar faces.  I have thoroughly enjoyed the days leading up to the Mrs. Texas competition more than ANYTHING.  That was the fun part (Pre-Pageant weeks).  I found support from friends, family, strangers, and people I just met.  My heart is filled with absolute gratitude.

To my surprise, I found a lack of support from some familiar faces.  Sometimes people would offer words of encouragement or well wishes laced with a heavy sense of doubt over shadowing their kind or less than hopeful words.  I attribute this to their own lack of self-confidence.  Often people who don’t believe in themselves intentionally or unintentionally project their own insecurities and self-doubt onto others.  I mean, if you don’t believe in yourself, it would be very difficult to believe in someone else.  Sometimes, people offered to help me on this journey but did not deliver.  That is the toughest pill for me to swallow because that is a serious pet peeve of mine (to say you are going to do something with me or for me and then not coming through) or better yet, sometimes people would ask if they could do anything to help me but when I said, “Yes, you can do XYZ” I was totally ignored.  Sometimes, people would come through with what they said they would do but provided negative words and negative energy that left me wanting to run for the hills and completely negated the minimal support they provided.

Let us all be people who rejoice for others when they are winning and succeeding; be joyful for other humans!  Let us be people who build others up and truly mean it in our hearts and souls; wholeheartedly support the ambitions and achievements of others.  Let us be people who gravitate away from and repel negative energy, silent haters, and blatant haters; pray for our enemies and demonstrate the behaviors our enemies should be demonstrating.  Let us be an example to those who despise us or are pea green with envy.  Let us be joyful people focusing on what is good every day, hyper focused on our MISSION and not getting distracted by anything or anyone that keeps us from elevating; and let us practice good manners and kindness – if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all – yes, SILENCE really is best rather than rude, thoughtless, unsupportive, hurtful remarks.

Friends (both new and old), I appreciate you more than you will ever know.  I will always be encouraged, never discouraged because so often in my life I’ve been the only one to believe in myself (that is certainly not the case anymore) and I’ve been pretty successful.  I create my opportunities, work to achieve my goals and I’m able to do all of that simply by BELIEVING I CAN and KNOWING I AM ENOUGH.
