THE DRESS IN THE STORE WINDOW WITH A STORY… 03/03/2018

A little history:  When my parents married, 40 years ago (03/10/1978), both my mother and father were very poor.  When my father asked my mother to marry him, he didn’t think twice about buying her a proper wedding dress.  He went to Bridal Castle by himself, without her knowledge on New Boston Road in Texarkana.  It was the Crème Brulee of Bridal stores for Texarkana at that time.  My father bought the dress in the store window, he picked that one because he thought it was the most beautiful in the whole store.  He had them box it up and he took it to my mother.  He surprised her with the fanciest of wedding gowns.  She was delighted to say the least.  She tells that story like it was yesterday and still has her dress as one of her prized possessions to this very day.  She said, “Even the more wealthy girls of Foreman, AR were getting their wedding dresses from a department store.  It was very rare for a Foreman girl to get a dress from Bridal Castle.”
Back to the Mrs. Texas dress hunt:  My time on the weekends is EXTREMLY LIMITED.  This makes shopping all the more challenging.  I needed an evening gown and not just an evening gown but THE EVENING GOWN.  I went all over Texarkana searching high and low for the perfect dress.  All the stores had beautiful selections.  I searched all over but the dress in the window at Monica’s Bridal (beside central mall) stole my heart.
I tried on the dress from the store window and a few others so my husband Eric could help me make the final call.  By the time I was through trying on dresses and was leaving the dressing room, the dress in the store window had been purchased for me.  My husband Eric surprised with a dress from the bridal store window! I now have my own dress in the store window story.
